Billionaire survival bunkers, a testimony to social Darwinism

All around the world and for a number of years now, billionaires and the super rich have been building secret off the grid survival bunkers.

These bunkers are reportedly well hidden, far removed from civilization and can sustain a small population, equipped with private security forces, medical facilities and private chefs for a year or longer. Why?

Now granted, if I could I would too. I have always wanted a secret off the grid “bat cave” of sorts and perhaps this is just as innocent as big boys letting their inner child escape into fantasy. Perhaps.

Or perhaps they are investing serious money in foreign lands and these secretive engineering projects that mimic the biospheres developed for self sustainable space colonization, because they know they might need them. And who wants to rough it when we can live in style with pools, bars, social clubs, chefs, organic food forests and all the other comforts of a 5 star hotel?

Rushkoff, who often writes about the future of technology and is known for his association with early cyberpunk culture, said he was invited to a remote resort to talk with five of the world's wealthiest men about the future of the planet. (Rushkoff did not specify who spoke to him at the resort, but said at least two of the men were billionaires.)
At the event, the City University of New York professor said he was repeatedly asked about the best ways to survive climate change or societal collapse, as the executives detailed their plans to build underground bunkers and avoid what they called "The Event."

Cole, 66, has two farms in development, one outside Princeton and the second somewhere in the Poconos, which he envisions as “a network of secret, totally self-sufficient residential farm communities for millionaires, guarded by Navy SEALs armed to the teeth,” writes Rushkoff.

“The majority of Americans do not have an insurance policy by their choice,” Cole told The Post. “If/when the supply chain collapses, these people will not have food. A certain percentage of them will break the law and do whatever possible to get food. Therefore we want to remain ‘not findable.’ ”

New Zealand has become a prime destination for billionaires seeking doomsday refuge, from Google co-founder Larry Page, 49, to Silicon Valley entrepreneur Sam Altman, 37, who let it slip in a 2016 interview that he and PayPal cofounder Peter Thiel had a mutual agreement to escape to Thiel’s New Zealand compound via private jet at the first sign of society’s collapse. (Thiel’s owned the property since 2011 but hadn’t made the news public.)

“Not findable” makes sense, they say it doesn’t matter if you miss by an inch or a mile. I mean, New Zealand isn’t really a small place, it has a lot of wilderness and places that are truly difficult to get to, with poor cellphone reception to boot. But I can just imagine a giant earthquake crushing their dreams and burying them all alive. Bet you never considered that possibility Thiel.

Considering the current world crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic, bunker owners are at code red in preparing their families for at least six months in their bunkers. They are not worried about nuclear wars or asteroid hits at the moment; they are primarily concerned about civil unrest.

For the last five years, these bunker owners built their luxurious shelters with one goal—to protect their families. Some have safe rooms with escape hatches leading through a tunnel to their bunkers, while many others have underground bunkers hidden on their extensive land holdings, away from their main residence. - Forbes

They are worried about “civil unrest” for fairly obvious reasons. People, despite popular opinion don’t starve to death quietly. Nor are they particularly forgiving when you kill off their families and friends to serve your own interests, you devil worshipping f*ckheads.
