The four horsemen of the apocalypse
I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth. - Revelation 6:8
A brief history of Holodomor
Did you know Joseph Stalin starved the Ukrainian and Kazakh civilians in the early 1930s?
He stole away all the food and grain for nearly two years straight, then closed the borders up tight to trap them in and stop them all from running away.
Media silence. Gag orders. The unheard cries of starving siblings sung like melancholic howls unto the cold of night, whilst the ruling elites dressed prim and proper, dined in Moscow or St Petersburg on fresh bread and expensive foreign wines.
Even if you argue that this was not planned per se and it was only a great accident of poor political policy making (some hold this view). Much of it could have been avoided.
All harm that occurs which should otherwise be preventable is a crime. Don't believe me, own a business, let it happen and ask OSHA who is at fault. They’ll set the record straight.

The perfect storm
Today we have something bigger and scarier. No borders to cross or to run towards. It looks like a storm is brewing. A really big ugly storm. A global storm.

FIVE rules for FIGHTING FAMINE
Stock. Sow. Grow. Catch. Relax.
We can all do our little bit. We can all make a start. Remember, even a marathon is run just one step at a time. Never think your small contribution is worthless. Every little step forward is progression. Even the most minute.
So stock, sow, grow, catch and relax. Because the captain has turned on the seatbelt sign.
Stock: Stock up whilst you can and consider a variety of long lasting food products that can store safely for years. Especially canned, dried or preserved goods. Frozens can store a long time too as long as a power supply is able to keep the freezer cold. Consider this.
Sow: Stored food will not last forever. Expect at least three years of famine. Not weeks or months. Years! Get seeds. Sow seeds. Use whatever space no matter how small to grow something. Learn. Practise. Play.
Grow: Meet your neighbors. Go say hello. Visit your community gardens too. Do whatever you can to consider that we cannot be reliant on domestic or foreign aid. We must learn to grow and how to maximize and utilize space we have around us. Recycle seeds. Compost. Share. Community action is critical action.
Catch: Hunting, fishing and trapping too. Back to old times of yesterday. Read up on trapping. Learn some fisherman’s knots. Learn how to read topographic maps. Protein will otherwise be hard to come by.
Relax: Activity takes energy and energy comes from food. Though there is work to do. Take it easy. Take it slow. Calories in must equal calories out. If you have time and energy surplus don't waste it but relax.
